Just a few of my favorites from our Fourth of July trip to Nantucket…
Surfside Beach…sadly did not succeed in flirting hard enough with these surfers to get a free lesson 😦 Ah well, I was content watching! Copyright Molly Fedick
Me and Anna at Nobadeer Beach. Possibly my best Instagram to date…please take note of my giant sunglasses, successful in being both a major steal ($3.50 H&M!) AND covering up half of my sweaty face. Copyright Molly Fedick
Playing “Chopped” at the house. Kaelin made the grilled corn and pesto linguine; Maggie made the Caprese salad; I did the scallops. Should also be noted, Kaelin put the butter on the table (duh) and placed those shells on everyone’s plates. #Pinterest. Copyright Molly Fedick
Maggie not paying attention to her rod, but looking really good in her Shoshanna bikini. Typical. Copyright Molly Fedick
The only natural smile I’ve ever achieved in a picture. Copyright Molly Fedick
Can’t be in Nantucket without eating lobster…purchased at Souza’s Seafood, link below! Copyright Molly Fedick
Me and Maggie doing what we do best, and I’m not referring to fishing, boating, or being outside. Copyright Molly Fedick
Okay, but which way back to reality??? Copyright Molly Fedick
Maggie enjoying some serious literature, “Love the One You’re With” by Emily Griffin, at Surfside Beach. If you’re not much of a reader just wait for the movie, it isn’t yet in production but will probably star Kate Hudson and Anne Hathaway with bangs. Copyright Molly Fedick
We don’t know him. Anyway, Kaelin and Maggie at the Chicken Box, aka the best garbage dump of a bar in the world, easily surpassing Beacon Hill Pub in Boston and Stanley’s in Chicago. Please also note Kaelin’s dress: that lace is a SAILBOAT PATTERN. Copyright Molly Fedick
C. Wonder pop-up store in Nantucket…no explanation necessary as to why you need to go, just look at the picture and try not to gasp. Easily one of most visually stimulating stores I’ve ever been into, but it should be noted I get excited by monograms and Vespas with flowers on them, so enter at your own risk. Link below. I swear I did not coordinate my nail polish with these hydrangeas…Copyright Molly Fedick
Some helpful links as you plan your escape to Land of Suspended Reality:
Souza’s Seafood: Dingy (but delicious!!!) sellers of all things seafood on the island. Affordable lobsters and even free recipe cards.
The Chicken Box: Do you like being spilled on? Do you enjoy cheap beer set to live music by 90’s cover bands? Do you like bartenders who drink straight from the handle, backwash, and then pour your drink? Do you prefer your men in boat shoes? Then the Chicken Box is for you! Recommended armor: at least two drinks while you wait in line; lax (read: no) morals.
Murray’s Toggery: The birthplace of Nantucket Red pants. In case you forget yours, they several gigantic rooms filled with everything from Nantucket Red shorts to, presumably, Nantucket Red condoms. Keep your peen preppy.
Topspin Sportfishing Charters: Climb aboard and enjoy the company of Captain Matt and Mike as you pray to catch Jaws II. Tip: feel free to bring your own drinks, water and otherwise.
C. Wonder: Unreal preppy mecca of a store, carrying everything to ensure your life will make everyone else jealous: monogrammed belts, necklaces, etc.; amazing sunglasses collection; replica vintage bikes in ice cream colors. Even if you buy nothing, it’s like visiting Disneyland–they even give you lemonade when you walk in and invite you to scoop your own candy bag from their free candy bar!
I also highly recommend the new Elin Hilderbrand book, Summerland, which takes place on Nantucket. An excellent read whether on the island or elsewhere!
That’s about it for this vacation–let me know in the comments section if you have any more ideas for Nantucket spots I missed!!
